Writer's Biography

Marianne Crone is from the Netherlands and works in the field of education. She has experience writing educational training material, and of late, she has started to write creative non-fiction - mainly travel stories. She has been travelling during the past forty years and visited over thirty-five countries. She has now replaced her rucksack by a husband who insists on carrying her two small suitcases. She now looks forward to the days when work no longer interferes with travelling.

After a few days in Jakarta, I wish to escape the chaos, the pollution and the traffic. I want to stand on the beach, feel the sand swirl between my toes, smell the salty air, taste the spray on my lips, feel the wind blow through my hair. I want to hear the waves break, look at the horizon and know there is nothing between me and the South Pole but this vast expanse of ocean.
